Zara expanding at Bullring while Clarks

Inditex’s Zara continues its UK upsizing programme with the Bullring & Grand Central shopping destination now hosting a significant new flagship for the Spanish fashion brand.

Zara

Following on from the retailer’s announcement of a similar upsizing at Liverpool One last week, Hammerson’s Birmingham shopping centre will now get the new Zara treatment as part of the successful repositioning of the city centre asset and the repurposing of former Debenhams department store space.

Also joining the all-new Zara at the destination, are global footwear brand Clarks and Swiss watchmaker Swatch taking space within the wider location this year.

In a move that completes the repurposing of the former department store, Zara is taking the top floor (above M&S) plus an adjacent two-storey unit on Bullring’s upper level.

Combined, this will create over 51,000 sq ft of shopping space “that will significantly elevate Zara’s presence in Birmingham”, said Hammerson.

The two new stores will showcase its full range of womenswear, menswear and childrenswear, and will feature its ‘Automated Collection Point’, self-service and dedicated refund tills.

The operator also noted that the renewed Zara commitment follows the opening of Inditex’s other major brands Bershka and Pull&Bear — “in a regional first” — at Bullring last year.

Clarks

Also relocating at the Bullring is Clarks to introduce its ‘modern workshop’ concept, occupying a new 4,500 sq ft unit on centres lower level.

The new store will host a series of events and activations “to embody the brand’s trademark craftmanship and industry leading innovation”.

The third arrival is Swatch, launching its debut standalone store in the city. Located on Bullring’s Link Street, the 800 sq ft store is set to host over 500 different watches on display, showcasing a selection of classic styles and contemporary options from a range of collections.
